About

What I do

I'm currently in the second year of my media and communication degree at Birmingham City University. Trying to figure what career route to go down when I was 17 was a very difficult process for me and as a result I ended up studying a subject that perhaps wasn't the right path for me. Its been an interesting and, at times, frustrating journey so far (especially as I was part of the first 'lot' of students to undergo the fee rise) but it has made me want to battle through and come out the other side of graduation standing. I've discovered new career options and ruled out others over the course of my time here in Birmingham, but it's just made me more determined to get to where I actually want to be.

Where else you can find me

I can be found elsewhere on the internet and am currently working on a professional blog/site which will be up to date very soon. I also have a strong interest in photography and can be found on Flickr. I also Tweet a fair amount, so if you want to here me complain 24/7 you can find me here .

Once upon a time

Back when I was at school I used to blog about fashion, style, clothes and so on, but fell out of the routine when I left to go to university. I have missed it a lot and have tried to start blogging again since, but its very difficult to find the time, especially now the word 'dissertation' is flying about. I am stressed out to the max right now, but being able to write about something I really love and am passionate for will hopefully relieve some of this stress, and if someone actually enjoys reading it that's even better.

What this blog is about

One of the benefits of deciding to come to university is that I have developed more informed opinions and ideas on an array of different topics. Studying media and communication has opened my eyes to different ways of thinking and for that I am thankful. So, instead of continuing my previous blog and the topics and style within it, I felt it was a natural progression to write blog posts about the fashion industry that avoid the wishy washy adoration that many blogs and publications seem to produce. I love fashion, it constantly amazes and baffles me and I don't believe that everything designers come up with are perfect. I'm not afraid to admit that I hate certain 'trends' or completely disagree with commonly held beliefs and ideas by some of the most influential figures in the industry. You're not, primarily, going to find photos of my outfit or reviews of new collections, because there are hundreds of other girls that do that a lot better than I. I love the written word and want to develop and hone my skills in fashion writing through this blog, and maybe even come up with some ideas that you find really interesting.

Grab a cup of tea, or juice, or whatever, and have a good read.
